El
Sobrante California, in Contra
Costa County, is a quiet unincorporated
town in between San
Pablo, Richmond,
and Orinda
with parts of Richmond running directly through El
Sobrante and the El Sobrante Hills.
The words "El Sobrante literally
translate to " the left overs" in Spanish. El Sobrante Real Estate is very nice
because of its low key location. It is one of the very
few places in all of the Bay Area Real Estate
market that feels like a small town.
It is one of the very rare locations
in the Bay Area to have a country feeling
of a small town almost like a farming community. El
Sobrante is located just to the west of the
San
Pablo Dam Reservoir and has many outdoor amenities
in the general area including hiking, bike riding, golf,
the Berkeley
Rose Garden, Kennedy
Grove and Tilden
Park. It also has a little bit warmer weather
and does not bring the fog during the winter season.
El Sobrante is home
to Wildcat
Canyon Park located near the San Pablo Dam along
with the El
Sobrante
Boys and Girls club. El Sobrante
is accessible from interstate 80 and Apian Way or
San Pablo Dam Road. San Pablo Dam Road runs through
El Sobrante connecting Orinda
to the South East and San Pablo to the South West. El
Sobrante is a very small community with only
around 14,000 residents living there. There are also
many private homes tucked away in the El Sobrante
hills with great canyon views and wooded surroundings.
There are not many areas in the San Francisco
Bay Area that truly have a small town feel
with many small children running around and friendly
families who give the feeling that you're welcome for
dinner.
The community of El Sobrante
feels to me like the kind of place where everyone knows
each other and they don’t need to lock their doors.
Driving through downtown literally feels like driving
through a small town in the mid west somewhere.
El Sobrante is home
to the Bay area band Primus
and is also where Kirk Hammett of Metallica
grew up. It has also been home to many other rock and
roll stars most of which attended De
Anza High School.
